Mangaluru: Congress leader Padmaraj R. Poojary has demanded strict legal action against individuals allegedly spreading hatred and disturbing communal harmony through social media.
He said Tulunadu has long been known for peace, coexistence and brotherhood, and warned that attempts to disturb this harmony must be dealt with firmly. Referring to a recently circulated video by an account identified as “Anita Kasaragod,” he described the content as highly objectionable and capable of inciting communal tension.
Poojary stated that the video has hurt the sentiments of peace-loving citizens and urged authorities to take immediate action. He added that he had consulted the Mangaluru City Police Commissioner, who assured that the matter would be investigated and appropriate legal steps would be taken.
He further said that Karnataka Health Minister U. T. Khader had also intervened and instructed police officials to act firmly against hate speech and those attempting to disrupt public order.
Reiterating his stand, Poojary warned that any attempt to disturb peace in the region would not be tolerated and that offenders should face action strictly within the framework of law.
He appealed to citizens to act responsibly on social media and contribute to maintaining communal harmony and social peace in the region.
