Chennai: The defeat in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections has triggered intense discussions within the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, with party leaders set to hold an important introspection meeting on May 14 to review the setback and chalk out future strategy.
According to party general secretary Duraimurugan, DMK president M. K. Stalin will chair a meeting of district secretaries at the party headquarters in Chennai.
The meeting is expected to focus on the reasons behind the electoral defeat, organisational challenges and the party’s future political roadmap. All district secretaries have reportedly been instructed to attend the meeting without fail.
Meanwhile, the DMK legislature party has elected Udhayanidhi Stalin as the Leader of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly following the election results.
Political observers view the move as a clear sign of generational transition within the DMK leadership structure after the party’s electoral setback.
