Telangana DGP reviews crime trends, directs officers to step up patrolling & strengthen investigations

Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand recently conducted a detailed review meeting with inspectors and senior police officers of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate, focusing on the recent murder of a five-year-old girl, the Bollaram arms theft case and a rise in property-related offences.

Overall crime in the commissionerate has increased by 9.23%. However, cybercrime cases have declined by 38.5%, economic offences by 35.3% and organised crime by 69%, while other categories of crime have recorded an increase.

During the review, Anand assessed sensational cases, POCSO cases and crimes against women. He examined crime data zone-wise and police station-wise, identified problem areas and highlighted shortcomings, while outlining measures to address them.

The DGP directed officers to intensify night patrolling, improve visible policing and maintain constant surveillance on thieves and rowdy-sheeters. He stressed the need to follow uniform urban policing standards across all areas, respond swiftly to crimes and strengthen cybercrime investigations.

He also ordered intensified action against the illegal transportation of drugs and called for effective measures to ease traffic congestion and prevent road accidents.

Emphasising public safety, Anand said every police officer must discharge duties responsibly and with dedication, adopting proactive measures to prevent crime and ensure the safety of citizens.
