Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday laid the foundation stone for the new campus of the National Institute of Urban Management (NIUM) at Bharat Future City, with the state government allocating 20 acres for the project estimated to cost ₹200 crore.
The institute, selected in 2009 under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), faced delays over the years due to the non-allocation of land by the state government. The recent allotment in Future City is expected to facilitate the development of its permanent campus.
NIUM is envisaged as an action research institution to support the formulation and implementation of urban policies in Telangana. It is expected to contribute to urban planning and management through research and policy development.

During the foundation-laying ceremony at the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) campus, Revanth Reddy directed officials to complete construction by June 2, 2028, and inaugurate the facility on Telangana State Formation Day.
Earlier, the Chief Minister inspected the construction of buildings at Young India Skills University (YISU) and the surrounding area. He issued several instructions to officials regarding the ongoing works.
