Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has announced a major relief for property owners in Bengaluru by reducing the fee for conversion of B-khata properties to A-khata from 5% to 2% for a limited period of 100 days.
Announcing the decision at a press conference, Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D. K. Shivakumar said the benefit will be available to citizens who apply with valid documents.

“Normally, 5% of the guideline value is charged for converting B-khata to A-khata. But for the next 100 days, only 2% will be charged, giving people nearly 60% relief,” he said.
Explaining the benefit, Shivakumar said that for a property worth ₹1 crore, the conversion fee that usually comes to ₹5 lakh will now be reduced to ₹2 lakh.
He said the government has launched the “Namma Khata, Namma Hakku” campaign to provide ownership documents to nearly 23 lakh property owners in Bengaluru.
According to the government, Bengaluru has around 7 lakh B-khata properties, and a special drive has been initiated to convert them into A-khata properties. Shivakumar added that the scheme would also help people who have constructed houses without approved plans.
