Bengaluru: The BJP on Saturday accused the Congress government of allowing corruption to flourish in Karnataka’s government hospitals, alleging that institutions meant to serve the poor have become centres of financial irregularities.
In a social media post, the opposition party claimed that fake bills worth several lakhs of rupees were generated at the Afzalpur Government Hospital in Kalaburagi district in the name of supplying milk, eggs and meals to patients.
The BJP alleged that corruption in the procurement and supply of food for poor patients has increased under the Health Department and demanded immediate action against those responsible.
Targeting Karnataka Health Minister U.T. Khader, the BJP questioned his silence over the alleged irregularities.

“Why are you still silent? Is there no protection even for the food meant for hospital patients? Take immediate action against those involved in the alleged loot,” the party said.
The BJP also alleged that the Congress government’s mismanagement has undermined the functioning of public healthcare institutions and called for a thorough investigation into the alleged scam.
