New Delhi: The BJP on Sunday organised ‘Save Democracy, End Anarchy’ marches across several states, countering the INDIA bloc’s protest at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan over alleged electoral irregularities.
In Shimla, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma led the march and targeted Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, questioning whether elections won by the Congress should also be cancelled. He demanded Gandhi’s resignation as Rae Bareli MP, alleging that electoral malpractice claims were raised only when the BJP won.
BJP leader Anurag Thakur accused the Congress of creating instability to hinder the country’s progress.

In Rohtak, Haryana, BJP president Nitin Nabin led the protest. In Thane, Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde joined the march.
Shinde accused opposition parties of opposing the Centre’s action against Naxalism and questioned their criticism of EVMs, pointing out that Congress legislators had also been elected using the same system.
