New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday issued a notice to Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, asking him not to participate in a proposed Tiranga march at Connaught Place, hours before the planned protest.
More than 20 police personnel visited the residence of NCP-SCP spokesperson Anish Gawande, where Dipke was staying, and served him the notice. The police cited prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and said the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) had not granted permission for the march.
Police sources warned that proceeding with the event despite the restrictions could invite legal action.

Reacting to the police visit, Gawande said he had been away for a meal and learnt about the police presence after returning home. He confirmed that Dipke was staying at his residence as a guest and said they would first examine the notice.
Asked whether he would participate in the march, Gawande said they intended to join the demonstration.
“If the police do not allow us to go, it will show the government’s cowardice. Those who speak about ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ should not be afraid of the Tricolour,” he said.
The police action came amid preparations for the march in the national capital. The proposed event and the restrictions imposed by the authorities have raised questions over whether the organisers will be allowed to proceed with the protest.
