Department of Posts, Flipkart Join Hands for Last Mile Parcel Delivery Across India

New Delhi: The Department of Posts under the Ministry of Communications and Flipkart India Private Limited on Thursday signed an agreement to strengthen last mile parcel delivery services across the country.

The agreement was signed in New Delhi in the presence of senior officials from both organisations. Under the partnership, the Department of Posts will provide last mile delivery services for Flipkart shipments across India.

The collaboration aims to combine India Post’s vast delivery network with Flipkart’s strong e-commerce presence to improve parcel delivery efficiency and customer service across urban, semi-urban and rural regions.

As part of the agreement, Flipkart will use India Post’s network of more than 1.6 lakh post offices to deliver parcels, including in remote and underserved areas. The services will include delivery of prepaid and cash-on-delivery parcels, OTP-based authentication and real-time shipment tracking.

Officials said the partnership is expected to improve delivery speed, operational coordination and technology integration for seamless parcel movement across the country.

The initiative is also expected to support the rapid growth of India’s e-commerce sector by strengthening logistics infrastructure and improving service reach in rural markets.

The Department of Posts said the collaboration would enhance utilisation of its logistics and delivery network while helping transform India Post into a major logistics partner for the country’s digital economy.

Flipkart, one of India’s leading e-commerce companies, serves millions of customers nationwide through a wide range of products and digital commerce services.
