Dharmendra Pradhan urges states to ensure smooth, heat-safe NEET re-exam

New Delhi: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to chief ministers, lieutenant governors and administrators across the country seeking support for the smooth and fair conduct of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination scheduled on June 21.

In view of the ongoing severe heatwave conditions, the minister urged states and Union Territories to ensure essential facilities at examination centres for the safety and convenience of students.

In his letter, Pradhan requested state authorities to direct district administrations and educational institutions hosting the exam to provide amenities such as safe drinking water, adequate seating, functional fans or coolers, clean washrooms, shaded waiting areas, uninterrupted electricity supply and portable toilets wherever necessary.

Stressing that student welfare was of utmost importance, the minister also called on state governments to arrange adequate transportation facilities for candidates on the day of the examination.

Pradhan expressed confidence that all states and UTs would extend full cooperation to ensure the NEET re-examination is conducted in a smooth, transparent and fair manner.
