Dispose of Praja Seva Andolana applications on time, K’taka minister tells officials

Chitradurga: District in-charge minister T. Raghumurthy has directed officials to resolve applications received under the Praja Seva Andolana within the stipulated timeframe, stressing that the objective should be to provide genuine solutions rather than merely dispose of petitions.

Inaugurating the campaign at Ashoka Rangamandira in Hosadurga, he said applications involving legal complications could be treated separately, while all other cases should be settled without delay.

Around 770 applications have been received across six taluks so far, of which 759 have been resolved. Hiriyur has settled 282 of its 287 applications, while Holalkere has disposed of 64 of the 66 petitions received. Pending cases will be reviewed at district- and taluk-level Karnataka Development Programme meetings, he said.

Raghumurthy said the government was giving priority to the campaign under Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s leadership, with progress being monitored at multiple administrative levels.

Focus on farmers and irrigation

More than three lakh farmers in the district have enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Around Rs 207 crore has been released towards insurance benefits, including for farmers unable to undertake sowing, he said.

Water has been released from the Bhadra reservoir under the Upper Bhadra project, with a target of securing 29.9 TMC annually. Efforts would be made to provide permanent irrigation to Hosadurga, he added.

MLA B.G. Govindappa said people could submit applications relating to khata transfers, sites, title deeds and pensions.

During the programme, title deeds were distributed to beneficiaries and incentive bonds were handed over to inter-caste couples. Deputy commissioner S. Ramya and other officials attended.
