Bengaluru: The controversy surrounding the proposed Bidadi Township project has intensified, with BJP MP Tejaswi Surya criticising Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and urging him not to invoke Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name in support of the project.
In a video message shared on social media platform X, Tejaswi Surya alleged that the state government had turned the Bidadi Township proposal into a “futile project” without adequately consulting farmers.
He claimed that farmers were neither taken into confidence nor provided proper information before the project moved forward. He also raised concerns over transparency in the land acquisition process and demanded that farmers be given clarity, consultation and a fair procedure before any acquisition.
Extending support to the opposition against the project, Tejaswi Surya said he had spoken to JDS Youth Wing state president Nikhil Kumaraswamy and assured his support for the farmers’ cause.
“I spoke to Nikhil Kumaraswamy and assured him of my full support for the ongoing struggle in the interest of farmers,” he said.
Chief Minister @DKShivakumar should stop taking PM Modi Ji’s name as a crutch of support to further his Bidadi Township project.
