Jalandhar: Dutch hockey legend and Olympic gold medallist Floris Jan Bovelander visited Jalandhar to watch the Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2026 following an invitation from Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
Bovelander, who praised Punjab’s contribution to Indian hockey, said the sport in India was incomplete without the state.
During his visit, he joined a training session involving 37 Punjab coaches and young trainees of the government-supported Surjit Hockey Academy. He demonstrated techniques, shared insights from his international career and took part in a drag-flick training session.

The Punjab sports department felicitated Bovelander in recognition of his contribution to hockey.
He also expressed his intention to attend the Mohali leg of the tournament on November 4 and 5.
