Indian Railways announces 3,548 graduate-level vacancies; applications open till Nov 6

New Delhi: The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have announced 3,548 graduate-level vacancies under the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC–Graduate) recruitment through Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 06/2026.

Eligible candidates can apply online until 11.59 pm on November 6, 2026. The recruitment covers four categories of posts across railway operations, commercial services, accounts and administration.

Goods Train Manager posts dominate

The vacancies are distributed across the following categories:

  • Goods Train Manager: 2,750 posts
  • Senior Clerk-cum-Typist: 371 posts
  • Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist: 300 posts
  • Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisor: 127 posts

Starting basic pay up to ₹35,400

The Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisor post carries an initial basic salary of ₹35,400 per month under Pay Level 6 of the Seventh Central Pay Commission. The other three categories fall under Pay Level 5, with an initial basic salary of ₹29,200 per month. Applicable allowances will be provided as per rules.

Eligibility and important dates

Candidates must hold a degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university. The prescribed age limit is 18 to 33 years as on January 1, 2027, with applicable relaxations for eligible reserved categories.

  • Last date for fee payment: November 8, 2026
  • Application correction window: November 9-18, 2026

Selection through computer-based tests

The selection process will comprise a first-stage computer-based test (CBT), a second-stage CBT, document verification and a medical examination, wherever applicable. Selection will be based on eligibility, merit and the prescribed recruitment criteria.

Reservation benefits, age relaxations and facilities such as scribes and compensatory examination time will be available to eligible candidates under the applicable rules. Refund of examination fees will also be governed by the notification’s conditions.

Typing test exemption

The notification provides for exemption from the computer-based typing skill test for Junior Accounts Assistant-cum-Typist and Senior Clerk-cum-Typist posts, subject to the prescribed conditions. Candidates must nevertheless meet the applicable requirements relating to computer knowledge and typing ability, as specified in the recruitment rules.
