New Delhi: Fresh leaks around Apple’s next-generation premium smartphones suggest the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could see major upgrades in design, camera and performance when they launch in 2026.
While the company has not made any official announcement, early reports indicate a significant redesign on the front, with the Face ID system likely to move under the display. This could eliminate the current Dynamic Island cutout, leaving only a small punch-hole for the front camera.
On the camera front, the triple-lens setup is expected to continue, but with advanced additions such as a mechanical iris system that can adjust aperture based on lighting conditions. Reports also suggest the use of a new three-layer stacked image sensor, possibly developed by Samsung, aimed at improving dynamic range and reducing image noise.
The devices are likely to be powered by a new A20 Pro chip, expected to be built on TSMC’s 2nm process, which could deliver improved performance and better power efficiency. The chip may also feature advanced packaging technologies for enhanced processing capabilities.
Battery upgrades are also on the cards, especially for the Pro Max variant, which is tipped to house a larger battery of around 5,100mAh. This could result in a slightly thicker design, with the device’s weight reportedly exceeding 240 grams.
Display sizes are expected to remain unchanged, with the Pro model featuring a 6.3-inch screen and the Pro Max a 6.9-inch panel. The phones are also likely to include Apple’s next-generation C2 modem with support for mmWave 5G connectivity.
If the leaks hold true, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup could mark a significant step forward in Apple’s premium smartphone segment, combining design refinements with hardware upgrades.
