Karnataka Govt clears recruitment of 56,432 posts after SC quota rejig

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has given the go-ahead to continue recruitment for 56,432 posts after approving the implementation of internal reservation within Scheduled Castes, with the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) issuing formal orders.

The decision follows a special Cabinet meeting that cleared the revised quota structure, dividing the 15% SC reservation into three categories — 5.25%, 5.25% and 4.5%.

Officials said recruitment and admissions will proceed in line with the interim directions of the Karnataka High Court, and will remain subject to the court’s final verdict.

Within the ‘C’ category, 20% of posts will be reserved for 59 most backward sub-castes. If eligible candidates are unavailable, vacancies will be filled from other sub-groups within the same category.

The government has also ordered withdrawal of recruitment processes initiated under the earlier internal reservation order issued on September 3, 2025. Those notifications will be cancelled and reissued as per revised guidelines dated February 27, 2026.

Officials added that if the court permits the total 24% reservation for SC-ST, an additional 6% will be treated as backlog and filled accordingly.

All departments have been directed to expedite the recruitment process and fill the sanctioned vacancies at the earliest.
