Karnataka to witness heavy rains for next 2-3 days; showers likely in Bengaluru too

Bengaluru: Karnataka is likely to receive widespread monsoon showers over the next two to three days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain accompanied by thunder and lightning in several districts.

The intensity of monsoon activity is expected to increase across the state, particularly in north interior, south interior and coastal Karnataka regions. The IMD has advised people to remain cautious as heavy rainfall is likely in some areas.

Bengaluru is also expected to witness rainfall, with cloudy skies prevailing across several parts of the city from morning. Officials have warned of possible heavy showers in the capital.

Coastal districts including Udupi and Dakshina Kannada are likely to receive heavy rainfall, while Uttara Kannada may experience moderate to heavy showers.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also expected in south interior districts including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Mandya, Mysuru and Tumakuru.

Residents living in low-lying areas and motorists have been advised to take precautions as rain intensity increases. The IMD has indicated that monsoon activity is likely to continue across several parts of Karnataka in the coming days.
