Karnataka’s heritage and sporting achievements featured in PM Mementos e-auction

New Delhi: The eighth edition of the PM Mementos e-auction features 30 mementos from Karnataka, showcasing the state’s diverse traditions, crafts, cultural heritage and contemporary achievements.

The Karnataka collection reflects the varied cultural expressions found across the state. A memento of Goddess Saradamba, regarded as an incarnation of Saraswati, represents Sringeri’s longstanding association with knowledge and devotion. Artefacts associated with Sant Sevalal highlight the spiritual and cultural identity of the Banjara community.

Traditional craftsmanship is represented through Kinnal art and Bidriware, while a photographic print of the Kambala festival captures Karnataka’s living rural traditions. The Mysore Peta and other ceremonial turbans reflect customs associated with identity, honour and celebration.

The collection also brings together contemporary achievements. A signed badminton racket belonging to Paralympic medallist Suhas Yathiraj, contemporary artworks and a scale-model replica of the Sri Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research represent modern-day Karnataka.

According to the Press Information Bureau, the 30 mementos collectively offer a glimpse into the different cultural traditions and contemporary achievements of the state while reflecting India’s wider diversity.

The eighth edition of the PM Mementos auction is currently live and has been extended until October 31, 2026. Proceeds from the auction will support the Namami Gange Project.

Interested bidders can participate through the official PM Mementos e-Auction portal.
