New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a new milestone by becoming the longest-serving Prime Minister of India in terms of continuous tenure, surpassing the record held by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Modi, who took oath as Prime Minister for the first time on May 26, 2014, has crossed Nehru’s record of 4,399 days of continuous service in office.
With this achievement, a record that stood for several decades has been broken. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that under Modi’s leadership, the Union government has been focusing on development initiatives, welfare programmes and the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’.
To mark the occasion, the BJP organised an electronic media interaction programme at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event was attended by BJP National President Nitin Nabin, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, former BJP President J.P. Nadda and several senior leaders.
During the programme, leaders highlighted the achievements of the NDA government over the past 12 years, key welfare schemes and the roadmap for achieving the goal of a developed India.
