NHAI launches digital Local Pass, AI-powered MargMitra help centre on RajmargYatra app

New Delhi: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced two new digital services on the RajmargYatra mobile application—a Digital Local Pass and the MargMitra Help Centre—to make highway travel more convenient, transparent and commuter-friendly.

The newly launched Digital Local Pass allows eligible commuters to purchase monthly toll passes online through the RajmargYatra app without visiting toll plazas or submitting physical documents. The facility has been rolled out initially at the Mundka–Bakkarwala Toll Plaza on Delhi’s Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) and will be expanded to other toll plazas across the country in the coming months.

Under the initiative, residents living within a 20-km radius of an eligible toll plaza can buy a digital local pass that permits unlimited travel through the respective toll plaza for a month. The process uses consent-based integration with DigiLocker and VAHAN to verify address, vehicle and FASTag details, while GIS-based verification determines eligibility, eliminating manual paperwork.

NHAI has also launched MargMitra, an intelligent digital assistance platform integrated into the RajmargYatra app. The help centre enables users to seek information, register complaints and access services through a conversational interface that supports 22 Indian languages via text or voice.

The platform offers instant assistance on FASTag recharge, KYC requirements, refund status, annual and local passes, and other frequently asked queries. It also allows users to lodge complaints, track grievance redressal in real time, file appeals, check FASTag blacklist status, view pending e-notices and report road safety issues such as stalled vehicles and highway encroachments.

According to NHAI, the latest additions build on the success of the app’s Annual Pass feature, through which over 80 lakh annual passes have been sold with real-time activation. The authority said the new initiatives are part of its efforts to strengthen India’s digital highway ecosystem and deliver safer, smarter and more citizen-centric services.

The announcements were made as part of the government’s Digital India and Ease of Living initiatives
