Preparations Intensify for NEET Re-Exam; Centre Orders Coordination Meetings Nationwide

New Delhi: The Centre has stepped up preparations for the NEET-UG re-examination scheduled on June 21, directing district magistrates and superintendents of police across the country to hold coordination meetings to ensure smooth and transparent conduct of the exam.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting on Tuesday to assess arrangements for the re-examination, which will be conducted after the earlier May 3 exam was cancelled over allegations of question paper leaks.

More than 23 lakh students are expected to appear for the re-test.

During the meeting, Pradhan instructed officials to ensure complete transparency, credibility and strict monitoring of the examination process. He stressed that lapses reported in the previous exam should be identified and corrective measures implemented to prevent any recurrence.

The minister directed authorities to conduct the examination in a secure, leak-proof and error-free manner with heightened security arrangements at all centres. He also asked officials to ensure adequate facilities for students, including transport and drinking water.

Officials discussed several technical and administrative measures aimed at strengthening the integrity of the examination system.
