Bengaluru: Congratulatory messages poured in from political leaders across Karnataka after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Gujarat in the IPL 2026 final to clinch their second successive title.
Caretaker chief minister Siddaramaiah hailed the team’s dominant campaign and praised the players for their fearless brand of cricket throughout the tournament.
In a post on social media, Siddaramaiah said RCB had once again emerged as IPL champions and credited the team’s united effort for the historic triumph.
“RCB has become IPL champions once again. The fearless cricket displayed by the players throughout the tournament left rival teams with no answer. Congratulations to our RCB for lifting the trophy for the second consecutive time. This victory has created a festive atmosphere in the homes of fans across the state,” he said.
The veteran leader also urged fans to celebrate responsibly and noted that the state police had issued safety guidelines for public celebrations. Ending his message on a celebratory note, he said, “This time too, the cup is ours.”
Chief minister-designate D. K. Shivakumar also congratulated the franchise, describing the title win as a new chapter in the team’s history.
“This time too, the cup is ours. RCB has created new history by winning its second consecutive IPL title. With determination, composure and the fighting spirit of true champions, the team has once again made Bengaluru proud,” Shivakumar said.
He further congratulated the players, coaching staff, support personnel and the lakhs of fans who stood by the team throughout the season, calling the achievement a “golden chapter” in RCB’s journey.
