Ukraine Expands Deep-Strike Operations, Targets Russian Facilities Farther Inland: Zelenskyy

Kyiv: Ukraine is stepping up its long-range strike capabilities to hit targets deeper inside Russian territory, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, following a review of the results of operations carried out in September and October.

In a statement, Zelenskyy said Russian facilities stretching from the Yamal region to Western Siberia were now within the range of Ukrainian deep strikes. He added that Kyiv was working to extend the reach of its drones and missiles to more distant parts of Russia.

Thanking Ukrainian forces for their precision strikes, Zelenskyy said every Russian attack on Ukrainian cities and communities would receive a response. He described the operations as part of Ukraine’s long-range sanctions strategy against Russia.

The president said Ukraine had identified key priorities for expanding its deep-strike operations. The units involved would be strengthened by drawing on the capabilities of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), particularly its Alpha Special Operations Centre, intelligence agencies and other components of the country’s Defence Forces.

Zelenskyy said long-range strike capabilities had become an important guarantee of Ukraine’s independence during the war and would remain a key element of its security after the conflict ends.

He also said he had held discussions with manufacturers of the weapons as Kyiv works to strengthen its domestic defence industry.
