A significant development has taken place that will put an end to the US-Iran conflict, which has caused severe concern for the global economy and oil markets. US President Donald Trump has announced that the peace deal between the two countries has been finalized after months of war and diplomatic wrangling.
Sharing the information on his ‘Truth Social’ account, Trump said, “The deal with Iran is complete. Congratulations to everyone. I have ordered the opening of the Strait of Hormuz toll-free and the immediate lifting of the US naval blockade.”
The conflict that began on February 28 has resulted in a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global oil transportation. Now, it is reported that the strait is being reopened following the agreement. This is expected to give new impetus to global oil supply and commercial activities.
Responding to this, Iran confirmed the agreement and said, “This is not a full-fledged agreement of trust. We will closely monitor the commitments of the United States.” It said that final talks will continue during the next 60-day ceasefire period.
Pakistan is said to have played a significant role in easing the conflict. It is reported that the two countries have agreed to permanently suspend military operations in various regions, including Lebanon.
