New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the INDIA bloc delegation had submitted a memorandum to President Droupadi Murmu, raising allegations of “vote theft” and demanding a return to ballot papers for elections.
In a post on X, Kharge said Opposition leaders had met the President after launching a four-day agitation over alleged electoral irregularities. He said the delegation had presented its concerns in detail and would submit evidence to substantiate its claims.
Kharge accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of failing to prevent alleged electoral malpractice, claiming that irregularities were taking place under the Election Commission’s watch. The Opposition has demanded that elections be conducted using ballot papers instead of electronic voting machines.

He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of taking steps that, according to him, undermined Indian democracy.
Kharge said the President had listened carefully to the delegation and indicated that she would examine the matter, consult the relevant people and decide on the appropriate course of action.
“We are satisfied for now,” Kharge said, expressing confidence that the delegation’s concerns had been heard.
The Opposition’s allegations of electoral malpractice have not been independently established in the information provided.
