NEW DELHI: High drama unfolded in the national capital on Tuesday as Opposition MPs of the INDIA bloc were stopped by Delhi Police while marching towards Jantar Mantar to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was detained by police and taken away from the protest site. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several other women MPs also staged a sit-in on the road leading to Jantar Mantar after security barricades blocked their march.

Priyanka Gandhi and other women MPs lay on the road holding a copy of the Constitution as they continued their protest. Police later removed the protesters from the spot and took Priyanka Gandhi into custody.
This was the second consecutive day that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were detained during protests and subsequently released.
Priyanka Gandhi alleged that women police personnel manhandled her while taking her away. She claimed that she was pushed to the ground and scratched during the detention.
The Opposition has been protesting against the Election Commission over issues related to the electoral roll revision and has demanded accountability from Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The latest confrontation came amid heightened political tensions between the ruling establishment and Opposition parties over the electoral process and allegations concerning voter-list revisions.
