Udupi/Byndoor: In a remarkable turnaround, Shiroor Government Pre-University College has recorded a sharp rise in SSLC results, with pass percentage surging from 35% last year to 94% this year.
The achievement has been attributed to sustained efforts by teachers and close monitoring by local MLA Gururaj Gantihole. School authorities said focused academic interventions and continuous mentoring played a key role in the improved performance.
Principal Jayanthi, who led the effort, is said to have taken extraordinary steps by staying near the school and conducting special classes for students. Teachers organised additional sessions and closely tracked student progress, contributing to the overall improvement.
At a programme आयोजित after the results were announced, an emotional moment drew attention when Gantihole publicly acknowledged the teachers’ efforts. The MLA, who had earlier criticised the school’s poor performance, said the feedback had served as a catalyst for change and improvement.
“This success reflects the outcome of consistent effort and accountability,” he said, adding that cooperation between educators and public representatives can significantly improve outcomes in government schools.
School officials said the turnaround highlights how discipline, targeted teaching and sustained support can transform academic performance even in resource-constrained institutions.
