Delhi Police probe possible pre-planned violence during protest; over 200 videos under scrutiny

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Tuesday said it is investigating the possibility of a larger conspiracy behind the violence that erupted in central Delhi during a protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). An FIR has been registered at the Connaught Place Police Station, and the investigation has been intensified.

According to the police, protesters allegedly vandalised police vehicles near Regal Cinema and pelted stones at security personnel during the violence that broke out on Monday.

Investigators suspect the unrest may have been pre-planned and are examining the movements and activities of protesters who had gathered at Jantar Mantar before the incident.

As part of the probe, police are analysing more than 200 videos, including CCTV footage, drone recordings, mobile phone videos and body-worn camera footage, to identify those allegedly involved in the violence.

Authorities are also verifying whether the identified suspects have any previous criminal records. Police said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
