Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on surpassing the continuous tenure record of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
In a letter issued on June 10, Yediyurappa described Modi’s completion of 4,399 consecutive days in office as Prime Minister as a milestone that would be “written in golden letters in the history of the Republic of India”.
He said the achievement reflected the trust reposed in Modi by the people through successive mandates in the 2014, 2019 and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Yediyurappa noted that the milestone was not merely a personal accomplishment but the culmination of a decades-long ideological and political journey. He said the vision initiated by the founders of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and carried forward by leaders such as Atal Bihari Vajpayee and L. K. Advani had continued under Modi’s leadership.
Highlighting the government’s achievements, Yediyurappa said India had witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, economic growth and welfare delivery. He cited schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Swachh Bharat Mission and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana as examples of programmes that have had a wide impact across the country.
He further said that developments such as the abrogation of Article 370, the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, India’s presidency of the G20, the success of Chandrayaan-3 and the global expansion of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) have enhanced India’s stature on the world stage, Yediyurappa said.
