New Delhi: In a boost to India’s self-reliance drive in advanced technology manufacturing, the Technology Development Board (TDB) under the Department of Science and Technology has extended support to Bengaluru-based company TIEA Connectors Pvt. Ltd. for commercialising indigenous high-reliability connector technologies.
The project focuses on developing advanced electrical connectors for critical sectors such as aerospace, defence, space and electric mobility. These connectors are designed to ensure uninterrupted transmission of power, signals and data even under extreme operating conditions.
According to TDB, the technology features a vibration-resistant contact architecture with a proprietary multi-point elastic contact mechanism that enhances durability, reduces electrical resistance and prevents signal interruptions. The connectors can withstand vibration levels of up to 100G, making them suitable for mission-critical applications.
Manufactured using high-performance Beryllium Copper alloy and specialised locking systems, the connectors are further strengthened with silver and gold plating for improved conductivity, corrosion resistance and long-term reliability.
The initiative aligns with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision by reducing dependence on imported connector technologies. The company has established end-to-end domestic capabilities covering design, tooling, prototyping, testing and manufacturing.
Besides strategic sectors, the technology is also expected to support India’s growing electric vehicle ecosystem through robust charging connector solutions.
TDB Secretary Rajesh Kumar Pathak said the availability of indigenous high-performance components is essential as India expands its capabilities in aerospace, defence, space technology and electric mobility. He noted that the project would strengthen technological self-reliance and supply-chain resilience.
The company said TDB’s support would help accelerate commercialisation and expand manufacturing capacity to meet growing domestic and international demand in high-value technology sectors.
