New Delhi: AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Narendra Modi-led central government over rising inflation, unemployment, fuel prices and economic issues.
Posting on social media platform X, Kharge alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants people to “enjoy the melody of speeches while surviving the misery of his government’s loot.”
Kharge claimed that in the last 11 years under the Modi government, the average debt burden on every Indian has increased significantly, while the wealth of billionaires has grown massively.
Targeting the rise in prices of essential commodities, he alleged that the price of domestic LPG cylinders has increased by 121 percent since 2014, while commercial LPG cylinder prices have risen by nearly 154 percent. He also claimed that prices of CNG, milk, bread and medicines have sharply increased.
The Congress president further alleged that the central government collected more than ₹43 lakh crore through petrol taxes and excise duties over the years, adding that recent fuel price hikes had further burdened common citizens.
Raising the issue of unemployment, Kharge claimed that youth unemployment had reached 15.2 percent in March 2026. He also attacked the BJP government over alleged examination paper leaks, stating that repeated leaks had affected the future of crores of youth.
Kharge also expressed concern over the falling value of the rupee, decline in foreign exchange reserves and foreign portfolio investment outflows. He alleged that the country’s economy was under severe pressure while the government continued its publicity campaigns.
He further said that nearly 80 crore people were dependent on free ration support due to economic hardships and accused the BJP government of failing to address the problems faced by ordinary citizens.
