Mumbai: Mumbai Police have arrested a woman for allegedly stealing gold jewellery worth around Rs 25 lakh and two mobile phones from the residence of Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon’s mother.
The accused, identified as Rashi Chhabria, had been employed as a caregiver for Tandon’s 86-year-old mother and was responsible for her daily needs, including cooking and personal care.
According to police, the theft came to light after a complaint was lodged regarding missing valuables from a locker at the residence. Investigators subsequently launched a probe and arrested Chhabria based on evidence collected during the investigation.
During questioning, the accused allegedly admitted to her involvement in the theft, police said.
Officials said around 15 grams of gold jewellery has been recovered so far. Efforts are underway to trace the remaining ornaments and other missing items.
