New Delhi: The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has launched the ‘Garbhini Mitra’ course for the 2026-27 academic session, aimed at training personnel to provide health education, lifestyle guidance and community-level support to women during pregnancy and the postnatal period.
The six-month offline course, conducted at AIIA’s Sarita Vihar campus, is based on Ayurvedic concepts including Garbhini Paricharya (antenatal care), Sutika Paricharya (postnatal care) and Garbhadhana Vidhi (pre-conceptional care).
20 seats per batch; applications open till August 31
The programme will be conducted from Monday to Friday between 3pm and 5pm. Participants will receive practical training in trimester-specific diet, lifestyle modifications, pregnancy-safe yoga, emotional support during labour, newborn massage and basic life-support protocols.

The curriculum also covers infection control, sanitation, biomedical waste management and workplace safety. Each batch will have 20 students.
Candidates who have completed Class 12 (10+2) from a recognised board and are at least 18 years old can apply. Students awaiting their Class 12 results can also submit provisional applications.
After completion, candidates can work as Garbhini Mitra Assistants, prenatal/postnatal care assistants, antenatal wellness guides and maternal health support workers in Ayush centres, maternity clinics, NGOs and community health projects.
AIIA clarified that the course does not replace clinical antenatal care. Regular medical check-ups, diagnostic tests and monitoring of blood pressure and haemoglobin remain essential. Trained personnel will help identify warning signs and facilitate timely referral to doctors and healthcare facilities.
The last date to apply is August 31, 2026.
