Baloch Liberation Army claims 34 operations; casualty figures remain unverified

Quetta: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for 34 operations across Pakistan’s Balochistan province between October 9 and 20, alleging that 14 Pakistani military personnel were killed. The claims have not been independently verified.

The group said an improvised explosive device attack on a military vehicle in Shahrag, Harnai district, killed three soldiers and seriously injured four others. It also claimed attacks on security personnel in Kech, Mastung, Kharan, Surab and Chagai.

The BLA further claimed it controlled an area along the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor for three hours, captured a Pakistani soldier in Khuzdar and seized supply vehicles after occupying Star Chowk in Tasp. It also claimed responsibility for attacks on police stations and security checkpoints.

The organisation acknowledged the deaths of six of its fighters in separate incidents in August and September. It vowed to continue its armed campaign until an independent Balochistan is established.
