Cabinet congratulates PM Modi on 25 years of continuous leadership

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet on Tuesday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years of continuous leadership as head of government, highlighting his political journey from Gujarat to the national stage.

The resolution described the period as a leadership journey guided by the principles of “Nation First” and “Citizen First”, and cited his three successive mandates in Gujarat and electoral victories in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections as evidence of public support.

The Cabinet resolution highlighted 10 broad aspects of Modi’s leadership.

It said initiatives developed in Gujarat, including SWAGAT and Jyotigram, were subsequently adapted at the national level. It also highlighted welfare measures such as Jan Dhan accounts, housing and healthcare, citing nearly 60 crore Jan Dhan accounts and more than four crore homes.

The resolution highlighted women’s empowerment, with around 3.5 crore women becoming Lakhpati Didis, along with the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. It also cited PM-KISAN transfers exceeding ₹4 lakh crore and PM-JANMAN for vulnerable tribal communities.

On economic reforms, the resolution pointed to GST, welfare-delivery reforms and the replacement of colonial-era laws. It also highlighted the rise in public capital expenditure, highway expansion, railway electrification, electronics manufacturing, defence production and semiconductor development.

Technology and scientific achievements, including UPI, COVID-19 vaccine development and Chandrayaan-3’s lunar landing, were cited as examples of the government’s focus on self-reliance.

The resolution also highlighted the government’s response to COVID-19 and global crises, national security measures including the 2016 surgical strikes, 2019 Balakot air strikes and 2025 Operation Sindoor, and the abrogation of Article 370.

On foreign policy, it cited India’s role in the G20 and BRICS, advocacy for the Global South, inclusion of the African Union in the G20 and Vaccine Maitri.

The resolution concluded by linking development with cultural heritage and environmental responsibility, and reiterated the vision of a prosperous, self-reliant and developed India by 2047.
