Chikkamagaluru: Three people died on the spot and two were seriously injured in a horrific road accident near Kotigehara in Mudigere taluk of the district.
A car collided with a lorry full of cylinders parked on the side of the road in front of a petrol pump in Kotigehara. The car was completely damaged in the impact of the collision, and the three people in it died on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Gurukiran (28), Mohan (30) and Gyanesh (28). Prem Kumar and Hrithik, who were in the car, were seriously injured and are being treated at the Hassan Government Hospital.
It is learnt that all the deceased hail from Gubbi in Tumkur district. The accident is said to have occurred while they were on a trip from Tumkur to Dharmasthala.
The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Banakal police station, and the police visited the spot and conducted an investigation.
