Bengaluru: Motorists in Karnataka will once again get an opportunity to clear pending traffic violation fines at a reduced cost, with the state government announcing a 50% rebate on outstanding penalties.
The concession will be available for a limited period from June 21 to July 10, allowing vehicle owners to settle long-pending traffic cases by paying only half of the fine amount.
The initiative has been jointly taken by the Transport and Police departments to encourage motorists to clear outstanding dues. A similar scheme introduced last year had received an encouraging response from the public.
According to officials, the rebate will apply to traffic violation cases registered under the police department’s e-challan system before May 2026. It will also cover cases pending with the transport department between 1991 and 2022.
Motorists who pay their dues during the 20-day window will be eligible for the discounted amount, helping them close long-pending cases without paying the full penalty.
The government has made multiple payment options available, including the Astram app, KSPS app and Karnataka One centres across the state.
Officials have urged vehicle owners to take advantage of the scheme and clear pending fines before the deadline. The move is expected to improve compliance while providing relief to thousands of motorists with unresolved traffic violation cases.
