DK Shivakumar cracks down on rowdyism; special police squads to be formed in every taluk

The squads will also focus on curbing drug trafficking, ganja sales, gambling, matka operations and other illegal activities. Officials have been asked to maintain continuous surveillance and act swiftly to prevent crimes before they occur.

The move comes amid concerns over rising incidents of murder, extortion, drug-related offences and organised criminal activities in parts of the state, particularly Bengaluru.

According to officials, the special teams will maintain updated records of habitual offenders and closely track their movements. Youngsters suspected of being drawn into criminal activities will also be identified and monitored.

Speaking at the meeting, Shivakumar said the government’s priority is to ensure public safety by taking firm action against criminal elements and stre
