Karnataka CM D.K. Shivakumar calls on Sonia Gandhi, meets Rahul and Priyanka in Delhi

New Delhi: Karnataka Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar on Tuesday met senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi at her residence in New Delhi and sought her blessings during his first visit to the national capital after assuming office as Chief Minister.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were also present during the meeting at 10 Janpath.

Shivakumar was warmly received by the Gandhi family leaders, with the meeting seen as an important interaction between the Karnataka leadership and the Congress high command following the formation of the new government in the state.

Party sources indicated that discussions may have covered recent political developments in Karnataka, governance priorities, implementation of key welfare programmes and organisational matters concerning the Congress party.

The visit is being viewed as a significant step towards strengthening coordination between the Congress central leadership and the Karnataka government. Shivakumar is also understood to have held consultations with senior party leaders on administrative and political issues related to the state’s governance agenda.
