New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has been appointed as a member of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party’s highest decision-making body.
The appointment was approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, marking Siddaramaiah’s return to the influential committee after several years.
Siddaramaiah had earlier been inducted into the CWC in 2018 during the organisational restructuring undertaken by the Congress leadership. However, he was dropped from the committee in 2019 after being appointed Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
His re-entry into the CWC is being seen as a significant development within the party, reflecting his continued importance in Congress affairs at both the state and national levels.
Party sources said Siddaramaiah is expected to contribute to key discussions on organisational strategy, policy formulation and political issues facing the Congress.
The Congress Working Committee serves as the party’s apex policy-making body and is responsible for taking major decisions on political, organisational and electoral matters.
