New Delhi: WAVES OTT, the digital streaming platform of Prasar Bharati, has crossed the milestone of one crore registered users, less than two years after its launch in November 2024, marking a significant expansion of India’s public service digital media ecosystem.
The platform currently offers more than 24,000 content titles and over 15,000 hours of programming across entertainment, news, education, culture, spirituality and public service categories. It also streams over 140 live television channels and more than 200 radio services.
Available on mobile, web and connected TV devices, WAVES OTT has expanded its reach to audiences in more than 130 countries, offering content in multiple Indian languages.
Prasar Bharati said the achievement reflects the growing popularity of indigenous digital platforms and the increasing demand for trusted and diverse content. The platform provides free access to educational programmes, live event coverage, devotional content, digital publications and archival material from the public broadcaster.
Officials said recent additions, including devotional live streams, educational content through PM eVidya channels and digital editions of government publications, have helped boost user engagement.
According to Prasar Bharati, WAVES OTT has recorded more than 1.4 crore downloads and is now targeting two crore registered users by March 2027. The next phase of expansion will focus on strengthening regional and educational content, increasing content partnerships and expanding availability across devices and platforms.
The broadcaster said the milestone reinforces WAVES OTT’s emergence as one of India’s fastest-growing public service streaming platforms.
