New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has assessed mobile network quality across major metro routes in Delhi-NCR to evaluate the real-time performance of telecom service providers.
The Independent Drive Test (IDT) was conducted in April 2026 across routes operated by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Noida Metro Rail Corporation and National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) under the Delhi Licensed Service Area (LSA).
The assessment covered around 490 km of metro routes, including major corridors such as Noida Sector-51 to Depot Station (Aqua Line), Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida Electronic City (Blue Line), Botanical Garden to Krishna Park Extension (Magenta Line), New Delhi to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 (Orange Line), Delhi to Meerut (Namo Bharat RRTS) and several other routes.
TRAI said the objective of the drive test was to verify the actual quality of mobile voice and data services experienced by passengers. The assessment covered key Quality of Service (QoS) parameters, including network coverage, Call Drop Rate (CDR), Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), data download speed and upload speed.
During the tests, live voice and data sessions were conducted using SIM cards of all telecom operators across 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks. Advanced testing equipment and software systems were used to monitor network performance in real time.
The regulator said such drive tests help consumers understand telecom service quality and encourage service providers to improve their networks.
The tests were conducted from April 1 to 4 and on April 14, 2026, under the supervision of the TRAI Regional Office, Delhi. The findings reflect the network performance recorded on the specific routes and timings during the testing period.
