New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Tuesday announced the result of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 for candidates who have qualified for the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination, 2026.
The preliminary screening test was conducted on May 24, 2026. A total of 1,046 candidates have been shortlisted for the IFS Main examination against 80 vacancies notified for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2026.
The candidature of all shortlisted candidates remains provisional, as per examination rules.
Qualified candidates will have to complete further formalities, including payment of the ₹200 examination fee (except exempted categories such as women, PwBD, SC and ST candidates), updating scribe details if applicable, and submitting cadre preferences.
The online window for submitting and updating the required details will be announced separately on the UPSC website.
The commission has clarified that all candidates who have cleared the screening stage must log in to the UPSC portal and submit the application form after verifying their details to enable the generation of e-Admit Cards for the Main examination. Failure to complete the process will result in candidates being unable to appear for further stages.
One candidate’s result, bearing Roll Number 6300119, has been kept on hold pending the outcome of an ongoing court case.
UPSC said marks, cut-off scores and answer keys of the screening test will be released only after completion of the entire Indian Forest Service Examination and Civil Services Examination process and declaration of final results.
Last year, 2,116 candidates were shortlisted for the IFS Main Examination, 2025 against 150 vacancies. Candidates seeking clarification can contact the UPSC call centre between 9 am and 8 pm.
