Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has paid tribute to Cristiano Ronaldo following the Portuguese star’s international retirement, saying his influence on football extends far beyond records, goals and trophies.
In a post on X, Satheesan said Ronaldo had inspired millions, particularly football-loving Malayalis, for whom the sport was “not merely a game but a way of life”.
Praising the 41-year-old’s work ethic and determination, the chief minister said Ronaldo had shown how hard work, resilience and the courage to overcome setbacks could help achieve extraordinary heights. He added that the forward’s fighting spirit had encouraged young people to dream bigger and never give up.

Recalling the popularity of Ronaldo’s iconic No. 7 jersey, Satheesan said children in villages had grown up chasing football dreams inspired by the Portugal captain. His goals, victories and emotional moments, he said, had become part of the memories of millions of fans.
“Once a legend, forever an inspiration,” Satheesan said, adding that Ronaldo would continue to remain in the hearts of those who had fallen in love with football through him.
