New Delhi: State-run oil marketing companies have once again increased petrol and diesel prices, adding to the financial burden on consumers across the country.
The latest revision comes just days after fuel prices were increased by ₹3 per litre last Friday. On Tuesday morning, petrol and diesel prices were hiked again by an average of around 90 paise per litre.
The repeated increase in fuel prices is expected to hit motorists, transport operators and common citizens hard, while also pushing up the prices of essential commodities due to higher transportation costs.
Petrol prices in major cities:
Delhi – ₹98.64 (+₹0.87)
Kolkata – ₹109.70 (+₹0.96)
Mumbai – ₹107.59 (+₹0.91)
Chennai – ₹104.49 (+₹0.82)
Diesel prices in major cities:
Delhi – ₹91.58 (+₹0.91)
Kolkata – ₹96.07 (+₹0.94)
Mumbai – ₹94.08 (+₹0.94)
Chennai – ₹96.11 (+₹0.86)
Industry experts say the continuous rise in fuel prices is likely to increase transportation expenses in the coming days, which may eventually trigger a rise in the prices of food items and other daily essentials.
