Petrol, Diesel Prices Hiked Again; Fuel Rates Rise Across Major Cities

New Delhi: Fuel prices in the country have increased once again as oil marketing companies announced a fresh hike in petrol and diesel rates on Saturday amid rising global crude oil prices and tensions in West Asia.

According to the latest revision, petrol prices have been increased by 87 paise per litre, while diesel prices have gone up by 91 paise per litre. This is the third fuel price hike in May.

In Delhi, petrol price has risen from Rs 98.64 to Rs 99.51 per litre, while diesel price increased from Rs 91.58 to Rs 92.49 per litre.

In Mumbai, petrol is now priced at Rs 108.49 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.02. In Chennai, petrol costs Rs 105.31 and diesel Rs 96.98 per litre.

Kolkata recorded the highest petrol price among major metros at Rs 110.64 per litre, while diesel price stands at Rs 97.02.

In Bengaluru, petrol is being sold at Rs 107.14 per litre and diesel at Rs 95.04.

Oil companies had earlier this week increased fuel prices by around 90 paise per litre. Before that, prices were raised by nearly Rs 3 per litre, ending a long period of stability in fuel rates.

Meanwhile, international crude oil prices continue to witness sharp fluctuations due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Brent crude oil crossed the 104-dollar-per-barrel mark on Friday, while US West Texas Intermediate crude traded near 97 dollars per barrel.

The continuous rise in fuel prices is expected to increase transportation costs and further impact household expenses across the country.
