NEW DELHI: Stepping up its attack on the Centre over alleged shortcomings in the education sector, the Indian National Congress on Wednesday announced a nationwide campaign titled ‘Chatron Ki Goonj’ (Voice of Students), aimed at highlighting issues related to education reforms, unemployment and the NEET controversy.
The campaign will be launched on June 25 with simultaneous press conferences in 28 major cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Patna, Jaipur, Ranchi and Srinagar.
Demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the Congress accused the Centre of failing to provide a forward-looking education policy and alleged excessive privatization, centralization and ideological interference in the sector.
In a statement, Congress general secretary K. C. Venugopal said the country’s education system had failed to adequately prepare students for future challenges, resulting in what he described as not only an unemployment crisis but also an “employability crisis”.
The opposition party argued that the existing framework is not aligned with the demands of a rapidly evolving economy and called for comprehensive reforms to make education more inclusive, modern and future-ready.

Several senior Congress leaders, including Priyank Kharge, Pawan Khera, Gaurav Gogoi, Kanhaiya Kumar, Supriya Shrinate, Imran Pratapgarhi and B. V. Srinivas, are expected to address the events.
The Congress said the initiative seeks to spark a nationwide conversation involving students, teachers, parents and education experts on the future of India’s education system. The party added that the campaign would focus on accountability in education governance while building public support for systemic reforms.
