Washington: US Senator Chris Murphy has opposed American military intervention in Yemen following the reported attack on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, warning that further military action could escalate the conflict involving Yemen and Iran.
Murphy said he had been at Riyadh airport a day before the attack, which reportedly killed 12 people and injured 309. He called for an end to hostilities and urged diplomatic efforts to resolve the Yemen conflict.

The senator also urged regional partners to work towards reopening the strategically important strait and the Red Sea. He said Saudi and Qatari officials were pursuing negotiations to bring the conflict to an end.
