New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday urged tribal youth to leverage education and technology while remaining rooted in their cultural heritage, saying they have a vital role to play in building a strong, prosperous and self-reliant India.
The President made the remarks while interacting with beneficiaries of flagship scholarship schemes of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Addressing the students, Murmu said India is rich in talent and that young people from villages, remote regions and tribal communities can achieve remarkable success when provided with the right opportunities, guidance and support.
She described scholarship programmes as more than just financial assistance, saying they help talented students overcome resource constraints and pursue their aspirations.
“Education is a powerful tool of empowerment that enables individuals to become self-reliant, aware and capable,” the President said, adding that education had played a significant role in her own life journey.
Murmu encouraged the beneficiaries to become role models for children from disadvantaged backgrounds and stressed the importance of inclusive development. She said progress would be meaningful only when those who succeed help others move forward as well.
Highlighting the importance of youth in India’s development journey, the President said the country’s young population represents its strength, hope and future. She urged tribal students not to lose touch with their roots and communities as they advance in their careers.
The President said the vision of a developed India by 2047 would require active participation from the youth and expressed confidence that they would contribute significantly to the nation’s growth across diverse fields.
