Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has praised a young girl, Varda Timande, and her younger brother for donating their savings of ₹3,575 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support drought-affected farmers.
Moved by the siblings’ gesture, Fadnavis said their contribution reflected compassion and concern for farmers struggling with the impact of drought.
In his message, the chief minister highlighted Varda’s words explaining the reason behind the donation: “Our small help will bring joy to the faces of the farmer uncles.”

Fadnavis said it was heartening that a young child understood the difficulties faced by farmers, whose hard work sustains people’s lives. He described the gesture as a valuable lesson for society, emphasising that concern for others is not determined by age or the size of a contribution.
The chief minister also expressed his appreciation for Varda’s sensitive heart and the siblings’ willingness to share their savings with farmers in distress.
The donation highlights how even a modest contribution can reflect solidarity with farming communities facing hardship. Fadnavis offered a heartfelt salute to the children for their thoughtful initiative and their effort to bring hope to drought-affected farmers.
